The Government of South Africa has identified transformation and Black Economic Empowerment as areas of priority in South Africa. In this regard legislation has been enacted empowering various forms of black economic empowerment including:

• Preferential Procurement Policies.
• Equity Participation by previously disadvantaged individuals in the South African Business Community.

With this in mind it is imperative for all businesses and companies operating in South Africa to address these issues in planning for the sustainability of their operations in South Africa. In the past months there has been increased activity in this area with many large corporates in South Africa announcing substantial BEE partnerships.
